Descriptive Memory:

ÉVORA FOLK 2008 was the first edition of a folk music festival held in Évora. The visual composition brings together graphic elements that merge the Alentejo landscape with the shape of the viola, symbolizing Alentejo going beyond Folk and celebrating diverse musical and cultural traditions.

Inspired by the project's cultural and historical richness, the ÉVORA FOLK (AlémFOLK) Poster is based on an acrylic illustration, created using the airbrush technique, depicting a typical Alentejo landscape. This scenery is defined by predominantly pastel tones, contrasted with the deep blue of the Alentejo sky, and the emblematic presence of the chaparro (cork oak) in between.

In the foreground, a graphic illustration of one of the most iconic instruments of folk music — the guitar— stands out. Shown in perspective, with a subtle blur between the foreground and background centered around the instrument's sound hole, the design reveals a Gothic-inspired illustration, complemented by the vibrant graphic detail of the rosette.

The entire composition is unified through graphic elements that blend the Alentejo landscape into the body of the viola — a visual metaphor for Alentejo going beyond Folk.
